Real-scale scientific replica of a large carnivorous theropod footprint from Los Cayos Yard Sector A, Megalosauripus cf. teutonicus, Early Cretaceous (145–100.5 million years ago), treatment: scientific replica, condition: Mold.
Description from the seller
A life-size scientific replica of a fossilized footprint of a large carnivorous dinosaur is offered. The mold faithfully reproduces one of the ichnites from the famous trackway of theropod footprints, among the largest at the Los Cayos Site (Sector A), located in the municipality of Cornago, La Rioja, Spain. Ichnotaxon / ichnospecies: Megalosauripus cf. teutonicus (originally formally described in the region by researchers from the Cameros Basin under the name Bueckeburgichnus maximus by J. J. Moratalla, and later reassigned by Lockley, Meyer and Santos to the ichnogenus Megalosauripus). Footprint dimensions: 45 cm in length by 37 cm in width. Geological Formation: Enciso Group / Oncala Group, included in the deposits of the Cameros Basin. Since footprints are records of behavior (ichnotaxa) rather than direct skeletal remains, the scientific literature formally associates the Megalosauripus morphotype footprints from this period in the Iberian Peninsula with several possible lineages of large theropods: Megalosauridae, Allosauroidea, and Spinosauridae.
