Description from the seller

In this lot we offer sizeable trilobites of the Hollardops Mesocristatus species in matrix in a flight position, with an impressive arched posture.
Full size of the piece: 9.5 cm, the animal’s body measures 6 cm, though it would measure a bit more in a fully extended posture.
Perfect preservation, perfect eye quality.
It is an exquisite piece, very aesthetic and decorative, worked using a sandblasting technique.
It comes from mines in the Oufaten Mountain, Tinghir Province. (Morocco).
One of the reasons the Hollardops genus is fascinating to collectors is the variety of species found in Morocco. To identify the different species, special attention should be paid to eye size, the number of lenses, and the shape of the cephalon and pygidium (the latter body part can greatly aid identification), number of segments, size of spines, etc.
Often, the anatomical differences between species can be very subtle, and only the most attentive eyes can distinguish them.
In paleontology, the study of trilobites is a broad and exclusive discipline; it’s a whole world.
The specimen is accompanied by an L-shaped acrylic stand for display as a gift

Seller's Story

Passionate about paleontology since childhood, a 'conservative' collector. For me, working with this material is a dream, treated with all the respect and love. It is well known to all of us that the feeling of having a fossil in our hands is something very special. Honestly, I really enjoy sharing with other enthusiasts this treasure that is fossils, a legacy of our planet's natural history.
