Description from the seller
Magnificent signature of Miguel Primo de Rivera y Orbaneja, that of the President of the Council of Ministers of Spain with full executive and legislative powers, acting as Head of Government and de facto dictator of the country.
The dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera (1923-1930) began after the September 1923 coup d'etat supported by King Alfonso XIII to curb social instability, the wear of the parliamentary system and the military crisis of the Annual Disaster. The regime managed to maintain and consolidate itself through two differentiated phases: an initial Military Directorate (1923-1925) focused on repressing public order and the pacified success of the Alhucemas Landing (1925), and a subsequent Civil Directorate (1925-1930) characterized by state interventionism, the push for major public works and infrastructure, and the attempt to institutionalize the regime through a single party (Patriotic Union), until the 1929 crisis and the loss of social and military support led to its resignation in January 1930.
