Statuette Congo - DR Congo (No reserve price)

a Nkisi Nkondi-type fetish statue (or power figure), probably of Kongo origin (Basin of the Congo region).
Main characteristics
• Materials: Carved and patinated wood, studded with numerous nails and rusty iron spikes, with fabric elements, fibers and a mirror or a magical charge (bilongo) on the belly.
• Function: In the tradition of the Kongo people, these figures served as receptacles for spirits. Each nail driven into the statue was meant to 'awaken' the spirit or to seal an oath, to settle a dispute or to protect the community
