Two-piece Gerold Porzellan Bavaria porcelain pair in white with gilt accents, each about 16 cm high and 8 cm wide, featuring cherub Putti on gilded balls—the first playing a string instrument, the second seated with raised arms—on an octagonal foot originally designed as a flower holder, models 4023 and 4023 B, from the mid-20th century and in excellent vintage condition.
Description from the seller
A particularly decorative duo from Gerold Porzellan Bavaria, executed in glossy white porcelain with richly gilded accents.
The first figurine shows an angelic putto with wings playing a string instrument, elegantly positioned on a large gilded ball. The second figurine shows a seated putto with arms raised, also on a golden ball. This piece stands on a beautifully shaped octagonal base with multiple openings, originally intended as a flower holder / flower frog, into which individual flower stems could be placed.
The combination of bright white porcelain, gold decoration, and classical putti gives both objects a distinctly elegant and timeless appearance. The different executions make the pair visually interesting, while color usage and style clearly match each other.
Both objects bear the green factory mark “Gerold Porzellan Bavaria” on the underside and impressed model numbers 4023 and 4023 B.
Gerold Porzellan was a German porcelain manufacturer from Bavaria, known for refined decorative figurines and porcelain pieces. The classical putti design aligns with Rococo and Baroque traditions, reinterpreted for the mid-20th century.
