Lot of 3 dinosaur claw replicas featuring Tyrannosaurus, Edmontosaurus and Camarasaurus from the Mesozoic, conditioned as moulds.
Description from the seller
A spectacular lot consisting of three life-size replicas of three of the most important dinosaur lineages of the Mesozoic: carnivorous theropods, giant sauropods, and herbivorous hadrosaurids.
Piece 1: Tyrannosaurus hind foot claw (16 cm)
• Item: Ungual claw (distal phalanx) of the hind limb of a apex predator. It shows the characteristic curvature and grooves for securing the keratin sheath.
• Geological origin: Hell Creek Formation, South Dakota, USA.
• Exact period: Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian stage, approx. 68–66 million years ago).
Piece 2: Camarasaurus thumb claw (26 cm)
• Item: Impressive and stout proximal phalanx claw of the first digit of the hand (manus). Camarasaurus used this strongly curved structure laterally as a defensive tool or anchor.
• Geological origin: Morrison Formation, western USA.
• Exact period: Late Jurassic (Oxfordian to Tithonian stages, approx. 155–145 million years ago).
Piece 3: Terminal foot phalanx of Edmontosaurus (9.5 cm)
• Item: Terminal bone of the foot (pes) of a duck-billed dinosaur. Exhibits a flattened, hydrodynamic morphology in the shape of a diamond-hoof, adapted to supporting tons of weight on muddy terrain.
• Geological origin: Lance / Hell Creek Formations, Wyoming, USA.
• Exact period: Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian stage, approx. 68–66 million years ago).
