Description from the seller
National Panasonic R-159 – vintage transistor radio, circa 1965
Stunning vintage transistor radio National Panasonic R-159, model dating from the mid-1960s and today of interest both to collectors of vintage radios and to enthusiasts of design and vintage technology.
The R-159 model is a 7-transistor portable radio produced by Panasonic/Matsushita, for receiving Short Wave (SW) and Medium Wave (MW) transmissions.
The unit presents itself in vintage condition, with the usual visible signs of aging and use that attest to its authenticity and original preservation. The cosmetic condition is overall good and consistent with the object's age.
Particularly well-preserved is the external cover, made of leather/cloth-effect material with contrasting stitching, present on virtually the entire radio except the front panel. The cover maintains a very pleasing appearance and contributes significantly to the device's original aesthetics.
The antenna is original, complete and straight. The power cable is original, with an American plug marked National Panasonic. The sale also includes the adapter (see last photo).
Operation:
The radio has been tested and, during the test, clearly picked up distant stations on shortwave. The reception was therefore surprisingly good for a device of this age.
Since this is still an electronic device about 60 years old, I cannot guarantee continued operation over time, and the radio is sold as a vintage collectible item, in its current condition.
An interesting original piece from the 1960s, with a nice aesthetic presence and still capable of demonstrating the transistor technology qualities of the era.
Please examine the photographs carefully, which are an integral part of the description and show the actual cosmetic conditions of the object.
