Liège-Rome-Liège of 1951: Regulations
Very rare official regulation booklet ("Règlement") in Italian (with an introduction in French) for the 10th edition of the Liège-Rome-Liège car rally of 1951. XXI (Championnat) Championship of endurance, reliability and Gran Turismo for automobiles, held from August 15 to 20, 1951, on a route of 4,719 kilometers in a single leg. The historic competition known as Marathon de la Route was an endurance race (reserved for touring and grand tourer cars) on asphalt and dirt that started in Belgium, went to Rome, and returned. The Rally was organized by the Royal Motor Union of Liège, Belgium, with the sponsorship of the journals Les Sports (Belgium), L'Équipe (France) and La Gazzetta dello Sport (Italy). Twenty-first year since the founding of the original race, born in 1931, even though it was formally the 10th actual edition due to wartime interruptions.
In the lot, the following sheets including three forms to fill for participation:
- Communication of the Royal Motor-Union
- Coupe des constructeurs: bulletin d’engagement (participation bulletin);
- Coupe des Associations ou Clubs: bulletin d’engagement (participation bulletin);
- Bulletin d’engagement (caractéristiques du véhicule engagé, carrosserie et diverse).
Winners: Johnny Claes and Jacques Ickx aboard a Jaguar XK120, among 126 registered crews and 57 classified at the finish (testimony to the toughness of the course).
Dimensions: width 15.5 cm and height 22.5 cm, pages 52 with drawings and illustrations. Conditions: excellent.
