Berndorf Esslingen - Sugar bowl - Silver-plated metal - Beginning of the 20th century

Elegant antique covered pot from the Berndorf BMF manufacture, Esslingen, Germany, which can be used as a sugar bowl or a condiment pot.

The mount in finely pierced silvered metal features a geometric pattern and stylized leaves. It rests on four ball feet and has a movable handle. The lid is outlined with a frieze of scrolls and topped by a knob with a vegetal decoration. A notch allows the spoon to pass through. The removable thick-glass vessel with facets reveals the pierced decorative mount.

A small silvered spoon, marked “90,” accompanies the set. It bears a distinct punch.

The mount bears the punch B–key–E, corresponding to Berndorf Esslingen.
Early 20th century, probably around 1919–1927, according to the period of use listed for this hallmark. This dating is indicative and not inscribed on the object.

Very good overall condition for its age. There are light marks, wear scratches, and some patina, particularly in the décor and on the spoon. No chips or cracks visible on the glass vessel.
