Description from the seller
Brass-clad coffee table by Sarreid Ltd., Spain, 1970s, made in the form of a campaign-style chest.
The wooden body is fully covered in hammered brass sheet. The edges are trimmed with hand-applied rows of brass nail heads, and the top has an inset border. Two full-width drawers at the end have heavy cast brass double-ring pulls. The table stands on four turned wooden bun feet.
The brass has a warm, mottled, aged patina, which is typical of Sarreid's Brass Clad collection and valued by collectors. It has not been polished, and the original surface is preserved. There are light surface marks and minor abrasions consistent with age and use. The drawers run smoothly. No structural damage.
Founded in 1965, Sarreid Ltd. produced its Brass Clad line in Spain during the 1960s and 1970s. These pieces are known for being completely sheathed in brass, down to the nail heads and hardware, and remain among the most sought-after Hollywood Regency case pieces.
A statement piece for a living room, and a functional one: the drawers give generous hidden storage.
Carefully packed for shipping. Pickup in Barcelona is also possible.
