Dogon medicine box - Dogon - Mali (No reserve price)

The Dogon pharmacy box is a traditional object used by the Dogon people, who live in the Bandiagara region of Mali. This box is a container used to store and transport traditional remedies and medicinal herbs used in Dogon traditional medicine.

The Dogon pharmacy box is usually made from wood, such as teak or acacia. It is often carved and decorated with traditional Dogon motifs, which may represent religious symbols, animals, or scenes from daily life.

On the sides of these pharmacopoeia boxes are carved zoomorphic and anthropomorphic motifs related to the rich cosmogony of the Dogons, reinforcing the healing power of the medicines involved.
