Philips FB 821 high-end 3-way closed floorstanding loudspeakers, designed and manufactured in Belgium/Netherlands by Philips (1991–1993). Both the woofers and the midrange drivers have recently been expertly fitted with new foam surrounds, ensuring the entire mid- and low-frequency range performs once again perfectly centered, tight and free of resonance. The set is in absolutely top condition both technically and aesthetically and is supplied including the very rare original accompanying stands/feet.
Within Philips' renowned FB series, the FB 821 distinguishes itself clearly by combining a closed acoustic enclosure (closed cabinet) with Philips' highly praised Isophase ribbon tweeter (band tweeter). Because both the dual woofers and the midrange drivers have new surrounds, the typical weak point of this generation of loudspeakers has been durably resolved. The transition between the drivers remains completely linear and distortion-free. The 100 mm flat membrane ribbon tweeter provides an unprecedented fast, airy and micro-detailed high-frequency response with an remarkable phase response.
Thanks to the closed-cabinet principle, the speaker delivers an exceptionally controlled, impulse-accurate bass response without port resonances or a woolly sublayer. The dual 180 mm woofers provide a dry and tight foundation, while the refoamed 130 mm midrange driver in its own acoustic compartment guarantees a transparent, open and uncolored vocal presence. With a nominal continuous power handling of 200 Watts RMS, the FB 821 can effortlessly handle large dynamic contrasts. The rare original stands ensure proper decoupling from the floor and bring the ribbon tweeters to the ideal listening height.
