Description from the seller

Lushes Cup in white and ruby red, mouth-blown overlay glass • design 2010

Slanted-cut bowl in which the red lights up against the white opal and the clear edge: the Lushes Cup by Carina Riezebos for Royal Leerdam.

Lushes Cup by Carina Riezebos for Royal Leerdam. Mouth-blown in three layers: red interior, a white opal layer, and a thick, clear outer layer that is cut at an angle and polished. The red glows in the opening, the white gives the body a soft, milky skin. From the collection of a Dutch glassware collector.

At a glance:

Material: mouth-blown overlay glass in three layers (red, white opal, clear), cut at an angle and polished

Dimensions: 9 x 12 x 11 cm

Weight: 700 grams

Brand: no signature or label; model by Carina Riezebos for Royal Leerdam

Dating: design 2010

Provenance: collector of Dutch glassware

Description and context:

Round body, diagonally cut. The cut reveals the three layers as bands along the rim: red, white, and clear. The underside is a large, oval, matte-sanded flat area. This is the standard size of the Lushes Cup; the Grand measures 15 x 14 x 11 cm. Carina Riezebos (born 1971) became in late 2009 the house designer at Royal Leerdam, mainly for unica and serica. From 2010 she also released the Lushes Cup under her own label. A white-and-red example was auctioned in February 2017 at Kunstveiling.nl.

Condition:

Good. Upper rim and lower rim: two chips, see the photographs. Rest of the rim and wall: no cracks or restorations observed. Underside: matte-sanded flat area, without mark. The black stone pedestal in the photographs is decorative and not included.

In the interior:

Fits in a modern or eclectic interior, as a solitary piece on a cabinet, low table, or windowsill. In daylight or spotlight, the red glows against the white opal.

Shipping:

Professionally packed in a sturdy box with cushioning material; for fragile objects a double box. Always insured and shipped with Track and Trace. See feedback from previous buyers.

Provenance and sources:

Design by Carina Riezebos for Royal Leerdam. The model is linked to her in sold lots, at shops and art rental; shape, color layers, cut, and size correspond. This specimen carries no signature. It is not Murano glass: the model comes from Dutch shops and auctions.
