Description from the seller
A striking Brutalist brass pendant lamp by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen, Denmark, 1960s.
The lamp is built from three cylindrical brass shades arranged in a strong tiered composition: one large central cylinder, with a smaller cylinder rising above and another descending below.
The design has a beautifully sculptural appearance - the most distinctive feature is the dramatic treatment of the edges. Each cylinder has irregular jagged rims, giving the lamp its unmistakable Brutalist character. The edges look almost molten, with a raw hand-worked quality that contrasts beautifully with the smoother cylindrical brass surfaces, adding texture and atmosphere.
The brass has golden tones and the surface shows natural variation, minor age-related wear, all adding to the character of the piece. When lit, the irregular cut-outs create a wonderful play of shadow and glow, giving the lamp real presence.
The chain can be lengthened up to approximately 100 cm, or slightly over, making it suitable for different ceiling heights.
Condition
Good vintage condition with only small signs of age and use. The lamp still has its 1960s wiring with blue and black. In good working order.
