Description from the seller
"The true connoisseurs do not drink wine, they taste secrets." Salvador Dalí
A "TRUE LEGEND" in red to savor the unique soul of Valpolicella!
The Monte Lodoletta Valpolicella Superiore from the Dal Forno Romano winery is a precious label that tells, in a glass, the history and traditions of a territory and the passion of a man.
It is the fruit of a selection of Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta grapes sourced from a single vineyard, historically known as the best in the estate, and which render this wine a masterpiece of elegance, harmony and power.
Harvesting takes place with manual selection in the vineyard of only perfectly ripe and healthy clusters. Fermentation at controlled temperature, drying of the grapes in the drying loft, and maturation in new barriques for at least 24 months and subsequently bottle aging for three years before release, confer it with remarkable longevity and very high quality both aromatically and on the palate.
From a former collector’s winery, under constant temperature and humidity control, this Valpolicella 2008 was released late by the Producer in 2021 and remains in excellent condition, thus a true jewel for connoisseurs and fellow collectors.
Reviews: 95/100 James Suckling
94/100 Wine Enthusiast
93/100 Wine Spectator
When to drink: from 2016 to 2035
Tasting notes: Deep ruby red, impenetrable to the eye. The bouquet is elegant, initially composed of hints of dark cherries and ripe red plums, then enriched by delicate spice nuances and vanilla notes. The palate is rich, warm, enveloping, with soft tannins and a persistent finish.
Pairings: Ideal with structured and savory red-meat dishes, grilled meats and braises, game, and it pairs well with aged cheeses and characterful cured meats.
