Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Excellent condition, this rare Austro-Hungarian multi-part smoking pipe from 1850–1900 is made in Austria by Zachár Karoly from wild cherry wood and pear wood, featuring an L-shaped boot, a hexagonal bowl, brass hardware, 15 cm wide, 10 cm long and 3 cm deep, and is in working order.
Description from the seller
This is a rare and beautifully preserved vintage Austro-Hungarian multi-part smoking pipe (traditionally referred to as an Alpine or hunter's Gesteckpfeife). It features an L-shaped wooden boot, a hexagonal bowl, and integrated brass hardware. While the design is characteristic of Central European mountain pipes, the specific makers' marks place its origin directly within the United Kingdom
The Rectangular Hungarian Stamp: It reads "ZACHARIÁS TÁRSA" on the top line and "BÉLYEGZŐ" on the bottom. In Hungarian, this translates to "Zachariás & Co." (the manufacturing firm) and "Registered Trade Mark / Seal." This officially certifies the piece as a genuine product of the renowned Zachariás Hungarian workshop.
The Circular Imperial Seal: Placed next to the factory stamp, it features the German text "PRIMA PFEIFE" (Premium/First-Class Pipe) wrapped around a central profile emblem. Using German alongside Hungarian was a common practice within the Austro-Hungarian Empire to ensure smooth commercial trade and export across Central Europe.
The pipe features a dual-wood construction characteristic of premium imperial craftsmanship: the heat-resistant hexagonal bowl and boot are turned from fine, light-amber briar or pear wood, while the detachable stem section is made from a contrasting, rich reddish-brown wild cherry wood."
