Antique Aubusson-style Chinese rug – 240 × 145 cm
We present a precious antique Chinese rug in Aubusson style, made approximately between 1940 and 1950.
Origin: China

Crafting: 100% handmade
The rug is made using an ancient manual tufting technique, in which wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton base. On the back, the structure is stabilized by a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining. The pile is worked and cut by hand, creating the beautiful relief characteristic of this type of rug.
It features an elegant Aubusson-inspired floral design, with a delicate color combination and an attractive relief effect.
For its approximately 75–85 years of age, it is in fairly good overall condition.
The protective backing shows dirt, stains and wear typical of the years, as clearly seen in the photographs.
