Louis XVI style antique wooden coffee table from France, dating to the 1950s, with a chamfered top and a smoked glass insert, four straight legs, and an open lower tray featuring neoclassical marquetry.
Description from the seller
Louis XVI-inspired side table made of wood and produced during the second half of the 20th century. It presents a sober and balanced line structure, characteristic of contemporary reinterpretations of French classicism, with a chamfered-profile top board that incorporates a recessed central smoked glass panel, adding visual lightness and contrast with the warm tone of the wood.
The body rests on four straight supports of prismatic section, joined by a lower open tray that provides functionality and stability to the set. It especially stands out for the marquetry decoration located at the center of said tray, executed with a delicate neoclassical-inspired symmetrical motif composed of vegetal scrolls, palmettes and stylized geometric elements in lighter wood, evoking the refined ornamental works associated with Louis XVI taste. The supports also incorporate discreet vertical decorative details that enrich the composition without detracting from the purity of the lines.
Its finish in reddish mahogany enhances the natural grain of the wood and reinforces its elegant decorative presence. It is a versatile piece, ideal as an auxiliary coffee table or corner table, that combines the ornamental language of eighteenth-century French furniture with the functionality and production methods typical of the second half of the 20th century.
Certified shipment and careful packaging.
