Description from the seller
Kyocera Samurai Z – Half-Frame Autofocus SLR
Serial Number:
014420
Thank you very much for viewing this distinctive Kyocera half-frame film camera.
Introduced in 1989, the Kyocera Samurai Z is an unusual autofocus SLR that uses standard 35mm film in the 18×24mm half-frame format.
Its built-in 25-75mm F4-5.6 zoom lens provides an angle of view roughly equivalent to 35-105mm on a full-frame 35mm camera, covering everyday scenes, travel, portraits, and short-telephoto subjects without changing lenses. The autofocus system, motorized operation, and camcorder-inspired vertical body were designed to make the camera easy to handle while retaining true SLR viewing through the taking lens.
Because the half-frame format uses approximately half the area of a conventional 35mm frame, it also allows roughly twice as many photographs to be taken from a standard roll of film, adding a distinctive practical appeal to the Samurai series.
■ Appearance
The camera shows some age-related surface wear and signs of normal use.
Despite its age, the exterior remains generally clean and presents well overall.
Please check the photographs carefully for the detailed cosmetic condition.
■ Viewfinder / Optics
The viewfinder contains only a small amount of fine dust and remains clear overall.
The lens has only slight thin haze. During inspection, no noticeable effect on photography was observed, and the optics remain clear overall.
■ Functional
A series of basic operating functions has been checked.
The camera was operating properly during inspection, with no functional problems found in the checked operations.

Thank you very much for taking the time to view this distinctive Kyocera Samurai Z.
Its combination of true SLR viewing, autofocus, a built-in 3× zoom lens, and the economical half-frame format makes it quite different from conventional 35mm cameras. The approximately 35-105mm equivalent range also makes it practical for a wide variety of everyday subjects without the need to carry interchangeable lenses.
This example shows some age-related wear but remains generally clean overall. The viewfinder contains only fine dust, while the lens has slight thin haze with no noticeable effect on photography during inspection and remains clear overall.
A series of basic operating functions has also been checked, making this an interesting camera both for photographers who want to experience half-frame film photography and for collectors looking for one of Kyocera's most distinctive camera designs.
