Grande Patelle, a pale green translucent glass patella from Roman antiquity, dating to the 4th century A.D., with dimensions 66 x 118 x 118 mm, in excellent condition, acquired in 2025 from a French auction house, with original authenticity and accompanying invoice, certificate of authenticity and export license.
Description from the seller
Large translucent pale-green glass patella with convex walls, vertical-edge lip and an upper and lower finished edge. It rests on a hollow base formed by a flared annular foot; the bottom of the patella has been pinched on the outer edge and pushed inward at the center, creating a bottom with a rippled appearance. It is very partially covered by a very fine layer of iridescence and earthy deposits.
