Gilded metal chalice with engraved decoration – late 19th / early 20th century
Liturgical chalice in gilded metal, adorned with a rich engraved decoration of scrolls and botanical motifs
The broad hemispherical cup is underscored at its lower part by an enameled frieze of stylized foliage. The stem, flared, features a central enamel-adorned knop, adopting the same ornamental vocabulary.
The circular foot is edged with a wide frieze of gilded scrollwork. It is also adorned with a circular medallion, decorated with a stylized four-armed cross accentuated
A workmanship of meticulous nature characteristic of historicist religious metalwork from the late 19th or early 20th century
The interior of the cup shows signs of use and wear to the gilding, particularly visible at the bottom. Some wear and small metal alterations are also present, consistent with the age and liturgical use of the object. See detailed photographs.
