Antieke houten hijskatrol of hijsblok, Nederland, 19e eeuw. - Working tool

Antique wooden hoist pulley (hijskatrol), Netherlands, 18th century

Beautiful authentic wooden hoist pulley from the 18th century, originating from a museum collection. This robust hoist block is made of solid wood and features an original wrought-iron threaded rod.

This pulley comes from an old "botter"—a traditional Dutch wooden fishing vessel with a flat bottom that was intensively used for fishing on the Zuiderzee from the late 18th century to the early 19th century.

Through its fine patina, visible signs of wear, and artisanal construction, this piece is not only a remarkable historical tool but also a splendid decorative collectible with a lot of character!
