Description from the seller
R. M. Clermont / Albert Plécy - Caribbean Nudes - Original edition - 1961
Original edition of Caribbean Nudes, published in Paris in 1961 by Éditions Prisma.
The work gathers the black-and-white photographs by R. M. Clermont, accompanied by a preface by Albert Plécy, an important figure in French photography and future founder of the Rencontres d’Arles.
This publication presents studies of female nudes taken in the natural landscapes of the Antilles, mainly on beaches and amid tropical vegetation.
The remarkable editorial design rests on 20 fold-out plates, allowing panoramic photographic compositions and sequences of images on two facing pages.
The collection includes about 73 black-and-white photographs.
A characteristic French photobook from the early 1960s, sought after for its subject matter, its graphic construction, and its heliogravure printing.
The printer’s proof indicates that the book was printed on 15 March 1961 by Presses Litho-Cachan for the illustrations and by Imprimerie Union française for the text. Legal deposit: first quarter 1961.
