Figure - Set di 2 Kokeshi Sosaku – Kōjō “Shaku Sansui” e Seifu Gōno “Yayoi” – con scatole originali – (2) - Wood

Interesting set of two Japanese kokeshi dolls, both signed and preserved with their respective original boxes.

The larger one, about 30 cm tall, is “Shaku Sansui” (尺山水), the work of Kōjō (晃常). The subject recalls the traditional theme of the Japanese landscape, depicted directly on the body of the kokeshi.
Particularly interesting is the label on the original box, which identifies the work and carries the wording “Modern Masterpiece Kokeshi,” in addition to the reference to a Japanese national competition dedicated to kokeshi. An important detail that helps document the work and its provenance.

The second kokeshi, about 22 cm tall, is “Yayoi,” created by Seifu Gōno, an artist known for his creative kokeshi. The piece belongs to his flower series and is accompanied by the original box and the small wooden plaque with the name of the work and the artist's signature.
A beautiful set that brings together two very different works within the same artistic field, both clearly identifiable thanks to the original documentation kept with the kokeshi.
