Italian 21st‑century ceramic work by Vecchia Gualdo, Madonna with Child and Saint John the Baptist, hand‑painted with gold and ruby lustring, certificate no. 5111 on the back, framed in a classical gilded frame, in excellent condition and original/official.
Description from the seller
Title
Ceramica “Vecchia Gualdo” – Madonna with Child and St. John the Baptist – hand-painted, gold and ruby lustres – certificate no. 5111
Description
A precious decorative work produced by Ceramica “Vecchia Gualdo” of Gualdo Tadino (Perugia, Italy), an important center of the Umbrian ceramic tradition.
The piece depicts the Madonna with Child and St. John the Baptist, in keeping with Italian Renaissance iconography. The composition is characterized by a refined painting execution, with particular care given to flesh tones, drapery, and the landscape in the background.
As evidenced by the original guarantee certificate no. 5111, still present on the back, the piece was entirely handmade with the collaboration of artists and using the traditional Mastro Giorgio lustre technique (1465–1553), with gold and ruby lustres. The certificate also specifies that the work belongs to a production made in a few pieces, catalogued and progressively numbered.
The piece still bears on the back both the certificate and the original label of the Vecchia Gualdo Ceramics manufactory – Gualdo Tadino (PG), Italy.
Presented in an impressive gilded frame of classic taste, richly decorated at the corners and along the profile, which particularly enhances the composition.
