Description from the seller
Original Venetian vanity mirror crafted in carved and pierced wood, dating to the 19th century, featuring refined decorations in the Rococo and Louis XV taste. The frame presents a dynamic multiform silhouette with elaborate volutes, Rocaille motifs and vegetal decorations, culminating at the top with a rich ornamental pierced element. The workmanship gives it a strongly decorative character representative of the Venetian tradition. The mirror retains its original antique glass with mercury backing, characterized by the natural patina and surface irregularities typical of antique mirrors. It is presented in conditions commensurate with its age, with patina and normal signs of wear. Over the years, some small non-professional repair interventions have been carried out, including the gluing of a few small wooden parts; these interventions are visible mainly on the back and are kept as part of the object's conservation history. The dressing mirror is offered as a nineteenth-century Venetian production in the Louis XV style, without attribution to a specific workshop. Era: XIX century. Provenance/style: Venice, Italy. - Louis XV/Rococo taste. Material: carved and pierced wood, antique mercury glass. Dimensions of each piece: 56 x 36 cm. Mirror opening: 30 x 26 cm.
