Description from the seller

Rare Antique Cast Iron Pressure Cooker (10.5L) - De Dietrich / L. Brindlinger Augsburg - c. 1895-1910 - Complete with Clamping Yoke & Counterweight Valve

Up for auction is a magnificent, museum-quality piece of culinary history: a massive antique cast iron pressure cooker (early domestic autoclave / Dampftopf) dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1910).

This highly collectible item was manufactured by the world-renowned iron foundry De Dietrich in Niederbronn (Alsace) and distributed through the prominent Bavarian ironware merchant L. Brindlinger in Augsburg.

Key Features & Condition Report:
- Exceptionally Complete Set: Unlike most surviving specimens from this era, this autoclave retains all of its original, easily lost moving parts. It comes complete with its heavy cast-iron clamping yoke (crossbar) featuring a T-screw handle, the original solid brass pressure-relief tap, and the mechanical counterweight safety valve assembly with its sliding cylindrical weight.
- Historical Maker Marks: The lid is clearly stamped with the curved makers' mark "DE DIETRICH NIEDERBRONN", "BREVETÉ" (Patented), and the merchant's stamp "L. BRINDLINGER AUGSBURG".
- Rare Large Capacity: Features a generous volume of 10.5 Liters, proudly stamped on the front of the body as "10 ½". Most surviving pots are smaller (3L–7L); these large-capacity estate variants are significantly scarcer.
- Interior Enameling: The interior is lined with its original cream-colored protective enamel—a pioneering safety feature patented by De Dietrich to prevent food from reacting with the cast iron. In keeping with its 110+ year age, there is authentic enamel loss on the interior bottom due to historical heat exposure and usage. The cast iron itself is structurally sound, with no cracks or repairs.
- Preservation State: The exterior boasts a beautiful, untouched dark historic patina. It has been kept in its genuine estate-found condition without aggressive mechanical grinding to fully preserve its antique value.

Technical Specifications:
- Total Height (with yoke & screw fully assembled): 32 cm
- Diameter : 27 cm
- Total Width (including side handles): 36.5 cm

An exceptional, heavy display piece for high-end rustic kitchen interiors, historic restaurant decor, or as a centerpiece in a specialized collection of industrial-era domestic antiquities.

The product will be professionally packed and sent safely to your address by local post.
The pictures of the product are made with the highest possible resolution, precisely to capture possible small defects (small scratches, stains, defect), the pictures are part of the product description.
