Original animation cel with a pencil drawing for Heer Bommel, produced by Marten Toonder Studio's, 33 by 27 cm, dating from 1982 or earlier, in Very Fine condition.
Description from the seller
Explanation: in cel animation technique the creator redraws the moving parts of the animation on transparent sheets, or "cels". 24 cells are needed for one second of a cartoon. The advantage is that fewer drawings are required, because the cels with the same movement can be reused. At the beginning of the last century, cel animation was invented in America. Animated films became a market product thanks to Walt Disney and had to be produced quickly. To save time, this technique was devised where moving parts and non-moving parts of the drawing can be separated from one another. The animation is first drawn in pencil (line drawing) and then placed on a clear transparent sheet (cel). Because of the transparency, multiple layers can be worked on on top of each other.
On December 1, 2010, the cultural heritage of Marten Toonder (all the work Marten Toonder himself created) was officially transferred by the heirs to the Letterkundig Museum Leiden and has since been the property of the Dutch State. In November 2018, the archive of Marten Toonder Studios was donated to the Literature Museum in The Hague and the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. See the last photo.
Due to the above developments, it is ruled out that original work by Marten Toonder himself and Marten Toonder Studios will be offered on the market from this estate.
Lot: a beautiful, original film cel + the pencil/drawing of Heer Bommel. This cel + pencil drawing (kept, as almost all production material was destroyed at the time) was made by Marten Toonder Studios and was indeed used for the film. While watching the film you will encounter the scene. A wonderful piece of animation art.

This beautiful piece of animation art will be sent to the new owner, securely protected, by registered post."}
