Description from the seller

Antique Brass Writing Set / Ink Stand with Vesta Lucifer Holder and Candelabra ca.
1900
Special and complete antique brass writing set (desk set) from the period around 1900.
This compact and functional object combines several practical desk functions in an elegant, clean design that shows strong characteristics of the early Art Deco and Jugendstil periods (possibly in the style of designers such as Jan Eisenloeffel).
Left: An integrated blaker / candle holder, originally intended to provide illumination while writing or for melting seal wax for letters.
Middle: A fork-shaped pen rest where a dip pen or fountain pen can rest horizontally.
Right: A vertical Vesta holder (matchbox) in which matches could be stored upright.
Base: A long box for pens with a decorative openwork circular motif (four-lobed / cross) on the front. The set stands on four subtle ball feet.
A beautiful authentic object for the collector of antique office supplies or as a stylish historical accent on a classic or modern desk.
Condition: In good, original antique condition with signs of use inherent to age.
Patina: The brass has a beautiful, well-aged dark patina. The object has deliberately not been polished to high gloss to preserve its authentic character.
No cracks or major damage.
This mark is the monogram of Gerrit Scholten jr. (1863–1957) from Hoorn, a well-known Dutch goldsmith and copperworker.
Features of the brand:
The logo shows a stylized candelabra (sometimes mistaken for a sword or dagger) surrounded by the letters G,S,H. (Gerrit Scholten Hoorn).
Scholten produced many brass items (brass) and red brass pieces (such as pen trays, fluid holders, letter boxes, jugs, and blakers) that were strongly influenced by the clean, geometric style of Jan Eisenloeffel.
This mark with the monogram GSH stands for Gerrit Scholten Hoorn.
It is the factory mark of the Hoorn Brassware Factory, a well-known Dutch copperworks established in 1860 in Hoorn by Gerrit Scholten Sr. and later continued by his son, Gerrit Scholten Jr.
The central symbol between the letters represents a tower, referring to the city of Hoorn.
Dimensions of the cap (case): 10.5 cm high by 13 cm wide and 7 cm deep.
Carefully packed, sent by registered mail and insured.
Will not be shipped to the United States.
