Martin Gerlach's Baumstudien is a portfolio of 49 of 50 photographic tree plates, issued circa 1894 by Gerlach & Schenk in Vienna, sized 37 × 30 cm with a grey linen slipcase and cord, in good condition despite slight mildew traces on the slipcase and a tear on plate 49 with plate 50 missing.

Undated (1894). Large in-quarto, 49/50 photogravures on sheets measuring 29 x 36 cm, original gray linen binding with a cord. 49 of 50 (no. 50 missing) tree plates magnificently reproduced by phototype, unretouched photographic proofs, of great fineness and in very good condition.
Good condition, some dampstains on the linen cover, a marginal tear on plate 49, plate 50 missing.
Martin Peter Gerlach is a German-born master engraver, engraver, publisher, and photographer who mainly worked in Vienna, where he became an important figure of modernity and the publisher of the artists of the Viennese Secession (Klimt, Kadinsky? Kurzwell, Moser, Mucha, etc.) and their magazine Ver Sacrum (January 1898 – January 1900). From 1893 to 1904, Martin Gerlach, associated with Ferdinand Schenk, published several photographic albums of botany (plants, trees and fruits). Distributed throughout Europe, these albums achieved real success.
