Description from the seller

Rare Victorian silvered hand mirror - Henry Matthews - Birmingham - 1899
Beautiful English hand mirror from the Victorian era, made in sterling silver 925/1000 by the goldsmith Henry Matthews in Birmingham in 1899.
This elegant dressing object stands out for the exceptional richness of its decoration, entirely crafted in the Victorian taste: floral motifs, foliate scrolls, volutes and raised ornaments, realized using various traditional techniques of English goldsmithing.
The back and the handle feature an especially abundant decoration obtained by repoussé, chasing, and engraving, giving the whole a remarkable relief and great decorative depth.
In the center is a cartouche adorned with a engraved monogram, probably the initials of its former owner. The oval mirror is framed by a silver border and has a bevelled, mercury-backed glass, preserving its antique look.
British hallmarks are clearly identifiable:
HM - The mark of the goldsmith Henry Matthews
Anchor - Birmingham Assay Office
Lion passant: guarantee of British sterling silver 925/1000
Date letter Z - 1899
Note that the weight corresponds to the complete object.
Normal signs of age and use. The silver decoration is very well preserved and remains particularly legible.
Carefully packaged with fast shipping.
