Specimen: Albino Endivien-Stachelschnecke (Hexaplex endivia f. albino), a 90 mm, original and GEM-quality shell from the Philippines, produced in 1982 and not CITES-listed.
Description from the seller
A true rarity and a sculptural highlight for discerning ConchyloLogy collections.
The Hexaplex endivia (known as endive spiny snail) fascinates with its strongly frilly, extremely detailed architecture with broad, leaf-like spines. This exceptional specimen is notable for its rare albino form: the shell is completely free of dark pigments and shines in noble pure white to soft cream. With a stately collector-size of 90 mm, this splendid specimen features fully developed, delicate whorls. The delicate aperture lip and the countless fine spines are in absolute top condition.
Origin
This exquisite collectors piece was recovered in the rapid-flow deep waters off Zamboanga City (Mindanao, Philippines). This region is world-famous for its marine diversity and, due to specific nutrient conditions, yields shells of particularly strong, pronounced structure.
