Specimen Mauritia arabica immanis (F. A. Schilder & M. Schilder, 1939), 65 mm in size, from Madagascar, condition Good (F++), featuring a rare warm golden coloration on the shell surface.
Description from the seller
Scientific name: Mauritia arabica immanis (F. A. Schilder & M. Schilder, 1939) – also known as Cypraea arabica immanis. In the German-speaking world referred to as the Large Arabic Porcelain Snail.
Feature (Color form): This exquisite specimen shines with a rare, warm golden hue ("Golden/Aureous Infusion") on the dorsal surface. Instead of the usual gray-cream base tone, honey-to-golden-yellow nuances flow under the delicate arabesque line pattern. This gives the shell an exceptionally warm radiance and makes it a real eye-catcher in any specialized collection.
Origin & localities: Western Indian Ocean; collected on the outer reefs of southeast Madagascar (Toliara Region / Fort Dauphin).
Habitat: Mainly in rough-surf tidal zones and shallow reef flats (1 to 12 meters deep), hidden beneath massive coral blocks.
Size & condition: 65 mm – an excellently proportioned, typical shell size for this African giant subspecies. Condition F++ (Fine plus plus): an outstanding cabinet piece with excellently preserved basal gloss. Minimal, naturally occurring growth features or tiny imperfections at the siphonal ends mark it as an authentic, living-collected natural product, but do not diminish the glossy overall impression in the display case.
