Val Saint Lambert – “Mimosa” Vase – Luxval – Charles Graffart – Art Deco, c. 1935
A rare and highly decorative Art Deco glass vase by Val Saint Lambert, model “Mimosa”, designed by Charles Graffart for the celebrated Luxval series, circa 1935.
This model is a fine example of Belgian Art Deco glass design, combining a strong architectural silhouette with richly textured decoration. The rounded body is organised in horizontal registers, with repeated stylised spiral motifs in relief, while the upper section is finished with very fine vertical ribbing. The restrained pale grey-green tone gives the vase an elegant and sophisticated appearance and enhances the sculptural quality of the moulded decoration.
The design is characteristic of the Luxval production of Val Saint Lambert, which brought modern Art Deco forms to a wider audience while maintaining the technical quality and distinctive aesthetic associated with the famous Belgian glassworks.
The underside bears the VSL signature, clearly visible in the photographs.
A particularly attractive and uncommon model, ideal for collectors of Val Saint Lambert, Belgian Art Deco glass, Luxval and European decorative arts of the 1930s.
