Tintin and the Thermozero is one of the most famous abandoned projects by Hergé. Designed in the late 1950s, the story begins with a car accident in pouring rain. Witnesses to the scene, Tintin, Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus (Tournesol) come to the aid of a wounded man. Fearing for his life, the latter discreetly slips a mysterious object — which turns out to be a transmitter or a device containing a highly sought-after chemical formula, the Thermozero — into Tintin's raincoat pocket. What follows is a breathless chase to retrieve the object, marked by the kidnapping of Captain Haddock.
