Description from the seller
Revox (Studer) B 226 High-End CD Player
The Revox B 226 is a high-quality CD player from the late 1980s with a solid metal chassis and professionally designed control logic. It uses the Philips CDM-1 drive (tilt-arm mechanism) and a 16-bit R-2R DAC TDA1541 with 4x oversampling (SAA7210/SAA7220 architecture). This combination is regarded as very durable and service-friendly.
Connectivity and features: At the rear there are two analog line outputs – a fixed one (about 2 V) and a variable one (0…2 V, electronically controlled) – so the player can be connected directly to an amplifier if needed. In addition, the B 226 has two coaxial digital outputs (S/PDIF), which were factory-provisioned for digital transfer and future applications. At the front there is a headphone jack.
Operating functions: In addition to direct track selection, the B 226 offers search, pause, autostop, LOOP (continuous playback), LOCATE (set of jump marks), and extensive programming options with up to 19 program steps (by track number, time intervals, or freely set marks). The programming functions also include pause and power-down programming; operation with an external timer is provided for.
Technical data (from contemporary documents; typical measurements): Frequency response 20 Hz – 20 kHz (±0/-0.6 dB), Total harmonic distortion < 0.005% (20 Hz – 20 kHz), Channel separation > 90 dB, Signal-to-noise ratio ≥ 96…100 dB, Output impedance < 500 Ω; fixed output voltage about 2 V RMS.
Service/Documents: User and service manuals (including block diagrams, adjustment data) are available at ManualsLib.
Conclusion: The Revox B226 combines the Philips CDM-1 drive with the TDA1541 DAC in a robust chassis, offering fixed and variable line outputs as well as two coaxial digital outputs.
Sales and shipping are only possible within the EU.
