Rare pair of porcelain Art Nouveau/Jugendstil vases by Arnhemsche Fayencefabriek, circa 1917–1920, each 23 cm high with a square body, hand‑painted Flora décor and matching painter’s initials, fully signed on the base.
Description from the seller
A splendid and rare pair (pendant) antique Art Nouveau / Jugendstil faience vases from the renowned Arnhem Faience Factory (Arnhem, Holland), founded by the Vet brothers.
This symmetric pair of vases dates from the early twentieth century (circa 1917–1920). The vases feature a very elegant, organic design typical of Dutch Art Nouveau, with a square belly that smoothly transitions into two gracefully cast, openwork handles and whip-lash motifs at the neck.
Decor and execution:
The vases are beautifully hand-painted with the sought-after matte decoration 'Flora', introduced under the direction of designer Willem Hartgring. The decor is characterized by a warm olive-green base, combined with stylized rose/flower motifs and refined pointillism details (stippling) in the background. Extra special is that both vases are adorned with the same hand-painted painter's initials.
Specifications and marks:
On the underside, both vases are fully and authentically signed:
• Blind stamp: The original factory mark (stylized rooster) pressed into the clay.
• Factory stamp: 'Arnhem / Holland' in sans-serif letters.
• Decor name: Hand-painted 'Flora'.
• Model number: Hand-painted '200'.
• Height: Exact 23 cm per vase.
Condition:
In perfect condition. Both vases are completely intact, without hairlines, restorations, chips or glaze damage. A unique opportunity for the serious collector of high-quality Dutch decorative porcelain, as complete and pristine pairs from this factory very rarely come onto the market.
The lot will be packaged with utmost care in a double box-in-box and shipped worldwide insured with track & trace.
