An extraordinary auction opportunity for collectors and investors: Roagna’s Barbaresco Asili "Vecchie Viti" 2020 is an absolute masterpiece of rarity and craftsmanship. Produced in a vanishingly limited edition of only 1,169 bottles in total, this wine comes from monumental vines over 50 years old rooted in the beating heart of the iconic Cru Asili (a micro-lot of just 0.22 hectares rich in calcareous marls and yellow sands). Luca Roagna’s philosophy — fermentation with indigenous yeasts, very long submerged-cap maceration, and many years of aging in large neutral oak barrels — enhances the quintessence of Nebbiolo. The 2020 vintage earned a legendary score of 99/100 from James Suckling.
Nose: Ethereal, sumptuous, and incredibly refined. Opens with hints of wild rosehip, lavender, and graphite, giving way to wild raspberry, candied orange, licorice, noble leather, mint, and balsamic echoes.
Palate: A perfect balance between aristocratic power and grace. Shows vibrant tension sustained by juicy acidity and dense, silky, ultra-refined tannins. The finish is endless, chalky, mineral, and persistent.
