Description from the seller

Title: 8mm "JFK Tribute" – Art Restoration & Customization | Unique Work from Florence

OBJECT DESCRIPTION
An Art and History Tribute: The Dallas Parade Cinecamera (1963)
We offer at auction a one-of-a-kind and exclusive piece that blends the history of vintage cinema with the high craftsmanship of Florentine restoration.

On November 22, 1963 in Dallas, the presence of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie spurred hundreds of citizens to purchase or pull out from their cases their own cinecamera to capture that historic event. Historically, it seems there were about 38 cameras recorded among the crowd and witnesses along Dealey Plaza (including the famous Bell & Howell of Abraham Zapruder).

This exemplar — belonging precisely to that generation of 8mm cameras widely distributed in the USA at the beginning of the 1960s — has been transformed into a true work of pop-historic commemorative art.

The Restoration and Handcrafted Reinterpretation Work
The intervention was carried out in Florence by a master restorer with over 30 years of experience in artistic restoration and the care of vintage items.

Technical & Mechanical/Surface Treatment: The camera underwent a deep cleaning, decontamination, and polishing of the chromed metal parts and the body.

Author’s Covering (Custom Leatherette): On the original faux leather in decent condition an integrated customized cover was precisely applied to the two sides of the chassis.

Innovative Technical Material: The evocative image of the presidential parade in Dallas is imprinted on a high-strength technical material, pleasant to the touch, oleophobic (resistant to grease, fingerprints, and natural skin oils) and designed to endure over time.

Functionality: The application of the new material perfectly respects the silhouette, the spring-loaded feed lever, the speed selectors, and the film counters, allowing full use and mechanical operation of the regenerated device.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS:
Type: Analog 8mm spring-driven camera

Brand/Model base: Keystone (vintage 1950s/60s)

Lens: Keystone Elgeet / Vintage Lens

Condition: Aesthetic and conservative restoration complete, mechanical operation with manual winding.

Origin of intervention: Florentine Artisan Restoration Workshop - Florence (Italy)

Piece: Unique (1/1 - Custom Art Piece)
