I’m auctioning one of the iconic vintage desk servant models, the “Aurora-252-”, made by the renowned Italian company “Fratelli Reguitti,” from the late 1960s to the 1970s. It is crafted in precious walnut-stained beech wood that gives it a warm tone and beautiful natural grain, so much so that it became a design object of 60s/70s Italian design.

At first sight, what strikes is its timeless elegance combined with the solidity and robustness of solid wood, along with the practicality and rationality of its lines: it was intended not only for decoration but also for daily use and to be easy to operate.

In addition to the stained beech wood, this piece features brass elements and side rods or hooks in plastic that imitates brass. This particular detail allows reasonably dating the production period to the late 1960s to the 1970s, since previously the side hooks/rods were made of brass.

Two fascinating features make the desk servant appealing to collectors of this kind of object and, in particular, to collectors and enthusiasts of the “Fratelli Reguitti”: first, the brand “FR INTERNAT PATENT Made in Italy” perfectly preserved and very beautiful as it is engraved in a warm gold tone; second, the label inside the pants-press panel, with the instruction label no longer fully intact but still readable as the model of the desk servant.

The object comprises a top hanger shaped to accommodate jackets and shirts without wrinkling them, an empty-pocket section, a practical horizontal upper tray to store small daily accessories; finally, a panel that opens with side hooks to keep the pants folded. It is equipped with four original swivel casters that allow mobility.

CONDITIONS: The object is in good vintage structural condition consistent with age and use. The wood shows a beautiful patina of the era; patina defects are rare, the side rods/hooks work perfectly, while two of the four wheels are a little stiff. I have cleaned the wheels of dust residue and oiled them, so it’s likely the unit had been stationary for a long time and may require being moved frequently to resume proper operation. I have cleaned and treated the item with specific wood care products, therefore it is ready to use.

I will package the item with bubble wrap, film, and cardboard, securely for either short or long shipment. I do not recommend purchasing to states outside the European Community due to high shipping costs and, in some cases, additional customs duties.
