Design: Distinctive red-black batik pattern (tie-dye) on the upper material. The design is inspired by classic concert posters from the Haight-Ashbury district in San Francisco.
Material: Flexible, sock-like Primeknit upper.
Cushioning:
White Boost midsole with black EVA elements (plugs). Branding: “Nice Kicks” lettering on the characteristic pull tabs at the heel.
The story behind the adidas NMD R1 PK “Nice Kicks” centers on the year 2016, when sneaker culture was at its absolute peak.
Adidas celebrated the phenomenal success of the NMD model at the time with a global tour.
The occasion: The Consortium World Tour In 2016, adidas launched the “Consortium World Tour.”
The plan: To design exclusive collectibles together with the twelve most influential sneaker boutiques in the world. The very first stop of this tour was the renowned sneaker store Nice Kicks in San Francisco [AQ4791].
The release of the shoe was also the official groundbreaking for their new flagship store.
The location: Haight-Ashbury
Nice Kicks’ new store opened in the historic Haight-Ashbury district. This neighborhood is world-renowned as the epicenter of the hippie movement and the 1967 “Summer of Love.”
It is this historically significant place that provided the foundation for the sneaker’s concept.
