Palladio, an antique Rococo wall mirror from Italy (Florence region), circa 1965, with an antique silver and gold finish, in a wood and stucco frame, measuring about 78 cm high and 25 cm wide, weighing 2 kg, in very good used condition with minor signs.
Description from the seller
Luxurious Pillar Mirror / Transom Mirror in Rococo Style – Silver & Gilded Look with Antique Finish, about 78 cm
---
Object Description:
Elegant, tall rectangular wall mirror in elaborate design inspired by Italian and French Rococo. The frame impresses with curved profiled moldings as well as a richly decorated cartouche and base:
• Cartouche (gable): Three-dimensionally worked palmette and acanthus leaf motif with sweeping volutes.
• Side framing: Slender silhouette, accented with multiple attached leaf appliques (rocaille motifs).
• Pedestal: Wide, curved base with central shell cartouche (rocaille/palmette) and flanking scrolls.
• Frame & Finish: Bicolored, antique-silver and gold finish. The surface features a fine patina and subtle antique-style toning (wear/wipe look) that give depth to the plastic reliefs.
• Mirror glass: Clear, flat mirror glass, precisely set in place.
Thanks to its slender proportions, the piece is ideally suited as a classic pillar mirror (trumeau) for partition walls, hallways, bedrooms, or as a striking focal point in the living area.
