Elegant 19th-century French audience clock.

This mantel clock is made of varnished mahogany, with handsome appliques in the shape of lion-like feet and stars.

Dial with Roman numerals and Breguet-style hands, surrounded by a gilt-bronze rim and a white enamel center.

This type of "mute clocks" was used for hearings in trials, where the noises produced by the striking mechanism were avoided.

It is in working order, although during transport the mechanism may become misaligned.

This is a beautiful and elegant piece, in very good condition, highly sought after by collectors.
