Description from the seller
Sansui AU-D5 integrated stereo amplifier in classic silver finish, built in Japan by Sansui Electric Co., Ltd. (roughly 1981–1983). Sonically and mechanically the unit is in perfect working order: all inputs, volume control, balance and tone controls operate without fault and without crackling potentiometers. Visually in nice vintage condition with light signs of use consistent with age; only a few indicator lights on the front panel are currently not lighting, which, however, has no impact whatsoever on the high-quality sound reproduction and operation of the amplifier.
Within Sansui's highly regarded D-series, the AU-D5 marks the application of Sansui’s patented Super Feedforward System (DD/DC). This advanced switching technology was derived directly from Sansui's top line to virtually eliminate transient and intermodulation distortion, while the amplifier retains an exceptionally fast rise time. As a result, the amplifier sounds not only dynamic and powerful, but even in complex passages the soundscape remains remarkably clean, open, and natural.
In terms of sound, the amplifier is known for its warm, musical yet tightly controlled Sansui character, with a solid bass foundation and a silky midrange. For vinyl enthusiasts, the AU-D5 is equipped with a high-quality, low-noise phono preamplifier that can switch between MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) cartridges. The solid silver-aluminum front panel with classic knobs and toggle switches exudes the golden vintage audio aesthetic of the early 1980s.
