Description from the seller
A vintage electric steam coffee maker produced by the historic Italian manufacturer Stella (founded by Gino Sgarbi), presumably from the 1950s-1960s. It features a stainless steel body with a distinctive label reading “Prodotto Stella Automatico Brevettato.”
• The Patented Automatic Switch: The wording on the plate (Patent No. 475560) refers to a pioneering thermomechanical safety system for its time. Once the water in the boiler was exhausted and the temperature rose, the mechanism would automatically cut or reduce power to prevent the internal heating element from burning or melting the welds (a very common issue in old electric coffee makers left unattended).
• Convertible Dual Voltage (Dual-Voltage): This model often originated as a travel coffee maker. On the bottom or by the specific positioning of the original cord plug, the operating voltage could be selected between 110-130 V and 220-230 V. This flexibility allowed use in Italy as well as abroad (for example in the Americas).
The coffee maker up for auction is new and unused.
It has two small dings (one very small) near the electrical outlet at the rear (photo in listing).
The shine of the steel is perfect as is the bakelite of the components.
Under the base is the original screw used to choose the most suitable voltage.
For use, it is recommended to seek the opinion of an electrical technician beforehand.
WE DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY.
For the Islands we reserve the right to request an additional shipping surcharge that may be imposed by the carriers.
