Description from the seller
Synanceia verrucosa – Large Prepared Stonefish Specimen with Display Stand
An impressive large specimen of Synanceia verrucosa, the stonefish, renowned for its extraordinary morphology and remarkable adaptation to life on rocky and coral seabeds.
This particularly substantial example beautifully preserves the characteristic anatomy of the species. The massive head, broad open mouth, pronounced dorsal profile and large extended pectoral fins give the specimen a powerful and unmistakable appearance. Its naturally irregular surface, folds and bony structures reveal the extraordinary camouflage adaptations for which stonefish are known.
The preparation allows the specimen to be appreciated from every angle, from the imposing frontal view of the open mouth to the broad fins and elongated body structure visible from above and below. Its generous size makes it especially striking compared with more commonly encountered specimens.
Presented on a clear acrylic display stand, included, it is ready for display and has an elegant museum-style presentation that keeps the focus entirely on the specimen.
A fascinating and unusual marine natural history piece, particularly suited to serious collections, Wunderkammer displays and cabinets of curiosities.
