Description from the seller

German 935 Silver Bonbon / Praline Basket – Rococo Revival Openwork – Germany – c. 1940s

A beautifully crafted German 935 silver bonbon or praline basket 20th C. combining elegant craftsmanship with refined Rococo Revival decoration. The basket bears the German Crescent Moon and Crown hallmark together with the 935 silver standard, confirming its German origin and high silver purity.

The shallow circular bowl is supported by three polished ball feet, creating an elegant floating appearance. The scalloped rim is richly decorated with finely pierced openwork scrolls, flowing acanthus leaves and symmetrical foliate motifs inspired by the Rococo style. The carefully pierced decoration allows light to pass through the silver, creating an attractive play of light and shadow while highlighting the quality of the workmanship.

Pieces of this type were traditionally used for serving pralines, chocolates, sugared almonds, biscuits or other confectionery during elegant tea services and formal dining occasions. Today, it also makes a beautiful decorative centrepiece or display piece in both classic and contemporary interiors.

The 935 silver standard represents a higher silver purity than the internationally known sterling standard (925), reflecting the high quality associated with German silver production during the first half of the twentieth century.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with only light surface scratches and minor signs of careful use consistent with age. No noticeable dents, repairs or structural damage. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
