An antique stadimetric optical rangefinder from SLOM Paris, a French precision instrument designed for distance estimation and topographic surveying. The device features an optical system allowing reading of several graduated scales, notably a distance scale based on a reference height of 1.70 m ("man’s height"), as well as additional graduations for measuring angles and slopes. Its compact design with a suspension ring enabled direct field use. Marked "SLOM Paris" and accompanied by its black protective case. A fine French scientific and topographic instrument from the mid-20th century, brass plated in black. An interesting piece for a collection of optical, geodetic, topographic, surveying, or antique measuring instruments.
