Art Deco pendulum clock from ca. 1920–1930, with a robust quarter-sawn oak case and a bronze dial, 8-day mechanical movement with a pendulum and bim-bam strike, no winding key, dimensions 23.5 × 30.5 × 11.5 cm, made in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in good used condition with minor rear panel wear.
Description from the seller
Classic Art Deco clock (circa 1920–1930) crafted in a characteristic geometric wooden case. The cabinet is made from sturdy quarter-sawn oak with a deep, dark finish. The clean, angular shapes of the casing and the semi-circular wooden supports on the sides are typical of the Amsterdam School and the Art Deco style of the early 20th century. The dial is a striking bronze version with beautifully geometric scales—almost floral in motif. The Roman numerals are embossed on the rim, paired with stylized black hands.
It is a mechanical eight-day movement with a pendulum (pendule). Equipped with a bim-bam strike on a coil gong, visible at the back of the clock. This produces a characteristic, warm sound on the hour and half-hour.
At the front of the dial are two holes for the winding key (one for the running mechanism, one for the strike).
There have been no restorations. The wood has some damage to the back panel/door for the movement, and unfortunately the original winding key is no longer present. Otherwise, completely ready to be beautifully displayed on your mantelpiece.
