An original Italian Chiavari chair from the 1950s, cast brass with a high decorative scallop-top back, recently reupholstered in emerald green velvet, retaining patina and in good condition.
Description from the seller
An original Italian Chiavari chair from the 1950s. This design combines a refined silhouette with rich materials, making it a recognizable piece from postwar Italian design history.
The chair is made of solid brass and is characterized by a tall, elegant backrest with a detailed shell motif at the top. Both the seat and the oval backrest have recently been reupholstered in a deep green Emerald velvet fabric. The brass frame displays the authentic patina that suits the age of the piece.
The furniture is in good, functional condition while preserving its original character. The recent reupholstery provides renewed seating comfort, while the frame bears the marks of time.
This design comes into its own in a Hollywood Regency or eclectic interior. It functions well as a striking side chair in a bedroom, hallway, or living area, where the brass and velvet add a classic accent. Mid-Century and fits perfectly in a boudoir.
Extra information: a prachtexemplar (fine specimen); between the rail and the top left-back there is a loose joint, but the chair still stands firmly on its legs (to be repaired by an enthusiast or craftsman, see photo)
